Dog poisoned, Toronto police reveal
Toronto police are hunting for the person who embedded a “very toxic” insecticide in food and left it in an east-end park, where it was eaten by more than a dozen dogs, one of which went into convulsions and died.

Detective Sydney Thomas said Thursday that the poison is not readily available and can be purchased only by someone with a specific licence.

Agricultural chemicals have not been used in the park for years. Investigators had been looking for other possible sources for the poisoning, examining whether garbage or chemicals from the park's skating rink could have been responsible.

1. Was Cheney there? Maybe he thought they were pheasants.
Poisoning dogs in a park is just about as sporting as our Veep's hunting habits. He would enjoy it, no doubt.

Daschle, Leahy and the evelope that never made it to Kennedy and the Wellstone assassination.

2. Same thing happened in Portland, Or.
Most suspect it had to do with the off-leash laws controversy. Somebody really hates dogs.

4. Off leash

Off leash is only really appropriate in "wild" areas wear there isn't a lot of people. Either that, or in sanctioned fenced off dog parks.

Some people are VERY scared of dogs and that can trigger a reaction in a pooch. An over-ambuxious pooch can instill a lifetime fear of dogs in a kid who gets jumped on.

BTW, I take my dog mountain biking off leash on nature trails. I rarely see anyone back there so it's OK.
