So guess who else besides US-based and other multinational oil companies are pleased about rising oil prices? That fellow in the iranian president's chair, that's who.

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/12417998/For the benefit of right-wing lurkers, I should point out that we've had nearly six years to develop policies that would lessen dependence on polluting fossil fuels from before on the Connecticut Cowboy's watch. All of that time was lost, and looks likely to stay lost until early 2009. Factor in Republican control of Congress since 1995 and the shorting of alternate energy development during the Clinton administration (And Congress DOES control the size of appropriations) and factor in six more lost years.
What an "accomplishment"! :sarcasm: During that time, the US could have done far more to develop solar power, promote hybrids, push the development of thermal de-polymerization, develop fuel cells that run on hydrocarbons, promote high-speed and regular passenger rail services, find ways to convert sewage into fuel, and even done more to replace incandescent light bulbs with more efficient LEDs.
For those individuals GENUINELY concerned with what radical Middle Eastern clerics are up to, think of how much less mischief they'd be able to wreak if they had less pocket money coming in from oil revenues.
