EPA's exposure estimates - wrong

Again, EPA's dedication to polluting corporations is selling the health of this country down the drain:

"The cancer risk from exposure to volatile organic compounds (VOCs) is vastly underestimated by current models that rely solely on ambient emissions. Researchers from Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health showed that cancer risk figures based on actual exposures for communities in Baltimore, MD were as much as three-fold greater than estimates given by models."

2. Baltimore in particular...

1) is (or at least was) a major industrial center (Beth Steel, etc.)

2) is on the Chesapeake Bay, which is downstream of Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and parts of New York state, also major industrial centers.

3) is highly regarded for its native blue crab, a local delicacy.

The Maryland county just downstream from Baltimore has *the* highest cancer rate per capita of any US county. Something about being in a major watershed for one of the largest industrial areas in the country, I guess...
