Lake Windemere Water Temps Hit All-Time Record High - BBC

Record high temperatures in Windermere indicate that climate change may be fuelling a decline in the UK's water quality, say experts. Water in the lake reached 24C in July,the hottest since records began in 1933, according to the Freshwater Biological Association.

The trend is also taking its toll on native fish populations.

Roger Sweeting, the association's director, said the rising temperature was an indication of climate change.

He said: "We've been taking readings every day for 73 years. For the last 15 of those years we've had hot temperatures throughout the year.

1. Tell people to stop using, amongst other things, motorboats and jetskis

and see what happens.

A lot of factors generate heat. If there was a concerted effort by government, corporate, and individual elements, we'd all be better off.

(e.g. public transport, willingly giving up some of those nonsense things we use as entertainment, et al...)

2. As it happens, a 10mph speed limit was introduced on the lake last year

so there's not many motorboats and jetskis there now.
