All of Britain on flood alert
All of Britain on flood alert
11/01/07
By John Ingham

BRITAIN is on a major flood alert today after the Met Office issued a severe weather warning for the entire country.

Gales gusting up to 70mph are expected to batter everywhere from southern England to Scotland.

They will be accompanied by torrential rain, with up to an inch falling in some parts. This will increase the risk of further flooding – as many areas are still mopping up after the downpour early yesterday.

4. Doubt any Premier League matches will be called off
Although Birmingham City (who should be in the Premier League next season) are in trouble over postponing their match against L**ds.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/b/birmingham_city/6254677.stm

The Football League says it will investigate the circumstances of Birmingham postponing their home game against Leeds on Saturday.

The Blues were forced to call the game off after problems with the relaid pitch at St Andrews, caused by a week of torrential rain in the midlands.

A League statement said: "We have acceded to Birmingham's request and will investigate the circumstances."

Birmingham could face a fine or even a points deduction from the League.
