READSBORO — A potential wind power project in both Readsboro and Searsburg moved a step closer to fruition Monday as the company involved filed for a certificate of public good with the Vermont Public Service Board.

15-20 new turbines

Portland, Ore.-based PPM Energy Inc., the American branch of Scottish Power, is attempting to put an up to 45-megawatt-capacity installation in the two towns, according to company spokeswoman Anita Marks.

"This is in the early days of filing," said Marks. "This is a multi-year process."
