Winter Hummingbird Regions
Hope you folks are keeping your hummingbird feeders filled as the freeze has gotten the flowering shrubs as well as fruits and veggies.

3. California, Southwest, Southern States
In the desert SW we have them all year round. I noticed the feeder out front was empty and the little guy was waiting for a meal.I looked around the yard and all the flowers are gone - event the oleanders are wilted.

2. *gasp*
Thanks for the reminder! Our trees are trashed here in the phoenix area. What a mess. Poor birdies - I'll get a feeder right away.

4. So that's it.
I didn't even think about it. I've always kept a hummingbird feeder in my backyard because my kids are fascinated by the little guys. We usually see maybe one or two a week in my yard, but they've been swarming for about the past week. I was wondering why we've been seeing so many of them, but the freeze killing off the flowers didn't even occur to me.

Luckily, my kids are very devoted to keeping it filled.

8. Up there in the cold country you only get one species
the ruby throat but here in Yuma we can get as many as 10. Last winter I had a rare species for this part of the country - red beaked - Broad Billed from Mexico. Several groups of bird watchers came to see it.
