Ten corporations have stepped up to combat global warming. The group announced its plan to urge lawmakers to pass mandatory curbs on carbon emissions. The companies believe the time is now to act and such moves would actually benefit the economy. Francis Beinecke is director of the
Natural Resources Defense Council and says now is the right time:
: "We have the technology and the know-how to move our economy forward and reduce global warming emissions safely and affordably, starting right now."
Some of the companies that have signed on as members of what is being called the U.S. Climate Action Partnership are Alcoa, DuPont, and General Electric.
