Australia to drink recycled water

People in the Australian state of Queensland will soon have to start drinking
water containing recycled sewage, the state premier has warned.

Premier Peter Beattie said he had scrapped a planned referendum on the issue,
because there was no longer a choice.

He also warned that other states in Australia might eventually have to do the
same as Queensland.

"We're not getting rain; we've got no choice," he told ABC radio.

"These are ugly decisions, but you either drink water or you die. There's no
choice. It's liquid gold, it's a matter of life and death," he said.

3. As a person who lives in this area...
I can tell you it's a decision that very few people are arguing with. We aren't allowed to wash our cars or water our gardens. The dam levels are so low that we'll have to start migrating away from here if it gets much worse.

As long as it's reasonably pure, water is water - who cares where it's been?
