Government fails to inform city that nearby bomb testing would be of the nuclear variety. Oops
San Joaquin Valley air officials have revoked a permit allowing the federal government
to test its nuclear weapons arsenal near Tracy after learning the bombs would have radioactive material.
The San Joaquin Air Pollution Control District initially granted a permit to the Lawrence Livermore Laboratory
to test the bombs on an open field owned by the lab off Interstate 580.
But air officials changed course when they learned that the tests would involve depleted uranium.

1. I feel a rant coming on, but
will try to restrain.

It's hard for me to get my head around the fact that the US is battering Iran when they are building new nuclear weapons and supplying Israel with them. This is just outrageous hypocrisy, folks, and the US reputation may never recover.

2. Golly, depleted uranium is good enough to spread
all over the Middle East, but California thinks it's not good enough for them? What a bunch of elitists. :sarcasm:

3. What a liar.
A lab spokesman says the lab didn't include it in its original application because depleted uranium has such a low level of radioactivity.

Dang, now we can't kill off the Kurds, I mean those San Francisco values type people. :sarcasm:

4. Think of the advantage of Depleted Uranium
Vegetables could be picked at night instead of just year round.
The added minerals which could contribute to the shelf life of the fruits and vegetables for years instead of weeks

5. Why wait for god to send a earthquake to knock SF into the ocean
when they can just give 'em cancer and deformed babies. :sarcasm:

I can see why some perfer to think the powers that be are really evil alien overlords and stuff like that. better than believing that actual human beings can do this to each other.

6. It's not a nuclear bomb test?
Just thumping some depleted uranium around?

Darn, I always wanted to see a nuclear bomb test, and Tracy is not too far a drive for me.

Okay, DU is nasty, and I don't care if the old rotten bombs work or not, so I think this testing is sort of obscene, but here we go again with stupid secrecy and people running around waving their arms like this is some kind of horror and not something that's simply toxic and stupid.

Revoking that permit is an appropriate action.
