DoD Seeks Congressional Support in Influencing Influencers
DoD Seeks Congressional Support in Influencing Influencers
By Sgt. 1st Class Doug Sample, USA
American Forces Press Service

WASHINGTON, June 30, 2005 – President Bush made the plea to the American public during his address to the nation June 28, and now Defense Department leaders are asking Congress to go out and do the same.

That is to ask Americans, especially those of enlistment age, to step up and serve their country.

During testimony today before the Senate Armed Services Committee, Army Chief of Staff Gen. Peter Schoomaker urged the committee to use its influence to explain to the American people "and to those who are influencers the importance for young people to serve the nation at a time like this."

"I know you have been doing this, and I encourage you to continue to help lead our people in that direction," he said.

I'll say "Do you want to live? Then stay away out of the military."

3. You First General
When every single member of the US Congress, SCOTUS, the Bush Adminisration and every current military member assigned to the Pentagon, have their own children and grandchildren enlist, then and only then would I even think of broaching the subject of any of my children joining the military.

4. Be Patriotic and hand out enlistment forms at rethug get-togethers.
Hand out business cards of recruiters. I know they're busy "doing shit," but their country needs them!
