Charged Uganda radio host 'sorry'A Ugandan radio journalist charged with sedition has apologised for
making "intemperate" remarks about the death of Sudan's vice-president
John Garang.
Andrew Mwenda, arrested on Friday, is due to appear in court on Monday
and could face up to five years in jail.
The Ugandan government has defended his arrest, saying the debate
could have sparked genocide at a time of tension.

Information Minister Nsaba Buturo said Mr Mwenda had compromised
national and regional security by airing conspiracy theories about
the Sudanese ex-rebel leader's death.

Conspiracy theories on Mr Garang's death - ranging from sabotage to
hijackings - have raged in the Ugandan media.
