Hospitals in Africa are steadily falling behind the continent's needs.
They are deteriorating with regard to the scope and quality of health care, according to a report due to be discussed by the regional commission of the World Health Organisation on Wedneday.
Hospitals lack equipment, drugs and consumables, says the report, compiled for a five-day meeting in Johannesburg.
