If you are flying in the USA today...here's the deal:
Per Homeland Security:

" Due to the nature of the threat revealed by this investigation, we are prohibiting any liquids, including beverages, hair gels, and lotions from being carried on the airplane. This determination will be constantly evaluated and updated when circumstances warrant. These changes will take effect at 4:00 AM local time across the country. Travelers should also anticipate additional security measures within the airport and at screening checkpoints.

These measures will continue to assure that our aviation system remains safe and secure. Travelers should go about their plans confidently, while maintaining vigilance in their surroundings and exercising patience with screening and security officials."

1. Maintain vigilance
That's the same thing the Cuba government is telling their people in reference to a potential U.S. invasion.

2. Someone needs to tell Cuba we only had 4 fighters covering NE USA on 9/11
*We* would have been more vulnerable to invasion than Cuba. (per the 9/11 tapes)

some very pissed off women travelers. The majority of people pack the day/night before a trip and women almost inevitably carry those type of items in their purse. How many will not have heard about it before they leave for their flight? My guess is a bunch. These items are not inexpensive and some women carry small containers of expensive perfumes. Wait till they learn that they have to turn them over to security, never to see them again, or they won't be allowed to board.

It's one thing to confiscate a $.99 lighter, its another to confiscate a $20 ounce of perfume or expensive hand lotion.

Typical....the people, most likely men, who thought up this one haven't the slightest idea of what women carry around in purses.

6. That's gonna suck
so I'm supposed to buy my contact solution when I arrive at midnight in a strange city? Even the airport stores are often closed at that hour.

7. What about not carry-on?
Can't people just pack these things in bags and check them in?
