SCRANTON – A federal trial has been set for a Wilkes-Barre man accused of attempting to conspire with terrorists to blow up gas pipelines .... Michael Curtis Reynolds .. learned Thursday that his trial is scheduled to begin March 26 .... A grand jury .. handed down an indictment charging Reynolds with attempting to solicit help from the terrorist group al-Qaida to blow up the Trans-Alaska Pipeline and two other pipelines in Pennsylvania and New Jersey. The indictment stemmed from an elaborate Internet chat room sting set up by the FBI. Federal authorities say Reynolds, using the moniker “Fritz Mueller,” logged into the chat room and solicited help for his pipeline plan from someone he thought had terrorist connections.
