GORHAM (Feb 26, 2007): Gorham's Hannaford supermarket was forced to close for a time Sunday night after an employee discovered a suspicious package outside the store.
According to reports, at about 8 p.m., an employee discovered the package, described as a metal case in a snowbank outside the store. The store was evacuated and both shoppers and employees were forced by police in a adjacent post office while investigators from the Maine State Police inspected the package.
State police eventually determined the package, an empty laptop computer case, was not dangerous and allowed customers back into the store by 9:30 p.m.
