The ABCNOTE says that the Democratic end the war in Iraq plan is on hold until
it "can't be cast as a "slow bleed" ";

until "they can simultaneously satisfy the blogger/Murtha wing, the presidential candidates, and their Red State Members of Congress";

until the Democratic members of Congress can "can pick off GREATER numbers of Republicans, rather than fewer";

until and unless they can "(for once) outfox Mitch McConnell"

and the ABCNOTE ends with "unless they do all these things, they are going to have to wait months (not weeks) and see if the President's troop introduction works (or doesn't) before they can actually get anything done."

Are they correct?

1. Probably......too bad the Political action is more important than....
Courageous action. Just once I wish everyone in Washington would do the right thing no matter what the political consequences instead of worrying about getting re-elected.

2. I wouldn't believe the time of day from the Note.
Our problem is that the majority in the Senate is too slim. We can't bring anything having to do with Iraq up for a vote because we can't get 60 votes to call the question.

People won't wait months. If there is not considerable improvement by June, I'd expect that maybe some Repubs will back the Dems.

I don't see any signs that the surge is working. By fall, surely there will be some action.

Remember that if we're still neck deep in the war by 2008, the Repub candidates will have a huge problem on their hands.

3. Horse shit.
What is being attempted right now has never been done. Stop a war, in the middle of it, with a nut in charge of the country.

I have no idea how long this may take - BUT

Those people tht want to keep their jobs in congress will do what the people want done.

Cause if they don't, they will be very unemployed soon. They know it.

Joe
