Description:
Two men were taken University Hospital in Denver Saturday morning after a small explosion erupted at work.

One of the employees was welding near a 350 gallon waste oil storage tank when vapors from inside the tank ignited causing the low-scale explosion, according to Kris Krengel, Fire Marshal for the Greater Brighton Fire Protection District.

The man, whose name was not released, was covered in flames and taken to the hospital in serious condition, Krengel said.

Another employee who tried to help extinguish the flames with his hands suffered moderate injuries.The fire started about 1 p.m. at Independent Rebuild Specialists, 189 North Kuner Road.

Krengel said fire fighters are still investigating total damages. He said there were no structural damages to the building, but several contents in the building were damaged.
