Separation not in Mr., Mrs. Arroyo’s cards

MANILA — First Gentleman Jose Miguel Arroyo will be joining Philippine President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo when she flies off to the United States on Sept. 25, dispelling all rumors that her marriage is on the rocks.

Quoting Presidential Spokesperson Ignacio Bunye, Manila newspapers reported that the inclusion of the First Gentleman in the president’s official entourage would put to rest all negative speculation about the First Couple’s marriage.

“I guess the message is clear that all’s well between the two of them. Actions speak louder than words,” Bunye reportedly said two days after pro-administration Rep. Magtanggol Gunigundo Jr. suggested that the First Couple
filed for legal separation.
