Kurdish rebels kill Turkey troops

Eight soldiers and a Kurdish "village guard" have been killed amid
ongoing violence between Kurdish separatists and the government
in Turkey.

Five soldiers and the guard were killed in clashes with the separatist
Kurdistan Workers Party, or PKK.

Separately, three soldiers were killed in landmine blasts, the
state-run Anatolia news agency reported.

1. Gee, that's gonna convince Turkey to leave the N. Iraq Kurds alone.
Yes, sir, that's gonna really help...

2. You gotta wonder when all the neighbors are going to decide to jump in.
Overtly, I mean. The Saudis are looking jumpy too.

3. The easy answer is "when someone else takes the first plunge"
but you'd think it'd take US withdrawal first. No one wants to be the first to get pounded by the USAF because of the President's displeasure.

4. Yes. No hurry while the US is still hanging on.
No hurry about stopping the erosion of US ground forces.

Although I would think Turkey invading Iraqi Kurdistan would rather put the US in a quandary as to what to do about it. The Saudis are really not in a position to take military action. But we would sure bomb the heck out if Iranian forces, or the Syrians.
