'Suspicious Package' Turns Out To Be A Dead Rat

LEWISTON, Id. - At first, police considered the package suspicious and took all precautions.

But a closer look showed they had nothing more than a dead rat on their hands.

This rodent tale started when police were called about a package that was left behind at a Lewiston, Id. gas station yesterday. On the outside of the package, someone had labeled "Princess" repeatedly with a black marker.

Police inspected the package with a portable X-ray machine normally used to detect explosives and other hazardous materials.
