City Court Reopened After Suspicious Package Situation Resolved in Lafayette, LA
Things are back to normal in downtown Lafayette after officials investigated a suspicious package found at City Court Tuesday morning.

Around 7:00am a city employee noticed a small beeping device in the tree of the City Court House building's parking lot.

But the city employee who found the device was not willing to take any chances and called the authorities.

State police did not know what the item was or whether it was hazardous or not, therefore they blocked off blocked off streets within a 2 block radius.

Investigators moved in around 10:00am to inspect the object which was described as a small clock.

Hazmat crews were also standing by.

Officials exploded the suspicious package without anyone or any property being harmed.
