Suspicious Package Shuts Down Muni N-Judah Line

POSTED: 9:44 am PDT June 29, 2007

SAN FRANCISCO -- The presence of a suspicious package has stopped San Francisco Municipal Railway N-Judah inbound and outbound service early Friday between 26th and 34th avenues, according to police.

An explosive ordinance disposal team was en route to investigate the package, located in the 2500 block of Judah Street.

A motor coach bus bridge between 19th Avenue and Sunset Boulevard was being set up. There was no word of when service between 26th and 34th Avenues will reopen.

1. gurgle
Clearly, one of the al-Qaida scuba divers has come ashore in San Francisco to plant a TERRA BOMB. And to think, I was in favor of shutting down Gitmo until now! How could I have been so foolish as to doubt our brave wartime leaders?

4. Yikes! I used to ride to work every day at the UCSF Med Center.
Of course, a 'suspicious package' is hardly a new thing in SF. Let's hope it's a false alarm.

5. Update: All Clear Given in SF's Sunset District
All Clear Given in SF's Sunset District

SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS) - A lot of police activity in San Francisco late this morning. A bomb squad was called to the Sunset District neighborhood.

KCBS' George Harris reports live from the scene at the intersection of 31st Avenue and Judah that MUNI service was shut down entirely because of a suspicious package.

It turns out the suspicious package was simply boxes stuffed in boxes.

The revelation came after the outer boxes were x-rayed.
