There are new developments tonight on the suspicious package found along West Broad Street during rush hour Monday afternoon.

Police tell 8News it was nothing more than a box of trash.

State and local police shut down Broad Street and evacuated several businesses in the area.

A state bomb team investigated for nearly three hours, with the help of a robot, before declaring the package safe.
