Ridgefield High receives bomb threat

RIDGEFIELD — Schools are expected to be open today despite a bomb threat.

School district officials were notified of a written threat suggesting a bomb would be set off at the high school today, according to a message from Ridgefield High School Principal Jeff Jaslow on the Ridgefield public schools Web site.

Jaslow said no one will be admitted to the high school until 6:45 a.m. today and staff and students should expect an increased police presence at the school.

Student backpacks, sports bags and other packages will not be allowed into the building. Bomb-sniffing dogs are expected to sweep the school before the building opens, Jaslow said, adding the dogs will be used by both Ridgefield police officers and state police troopers.
