One Possible Route to Long-Term National Security
Some people worry that European free speech rights are being diluted. Whatever is motivating such alleged dilution of free speech rights in various European jurisdictions is not known.

Allegedly there is some influence from a Zionist or Israeli lobby. The problem with attempting to protect such pillars of Western law and Western civilization as freedom of speech by means of some kind of iron curtain against Zionist or Israeli influence is that there is unlikely to be any iron curtain that would effectively protect a rich and complex tradition of law, civilization, and culture. How could there be such a thing when the Great Wall of China is not even adequate to protect China from infantile, enraged adults who hijack modern technology such as airplanes?

Another problem is that any proposed iron curtain against Zionist or Israeli influence would merely be an attempt to block change. It would do nothing to contribute to the long-term goal of improving law, civilization, and culture so that human beings will have greater opportunity to live flourishing, happy, successful, and admirable lives. At best, it would freeze progress. It might even carry the risk of provoking a blind nostalgia that could bring us back to the days when aristocrats didn't have to obey traffic regulations, but could simply toss a few gold coins to a woman whose husband was hit and injured while crossing at a designated pedestrian cross-walk.

With that long introduction, let me make my proposal.

Israel is entitled to build (on its own territory) any walls that it wishes to build. If any Palestinian-Muslim territory touches waters that connect to the world's oceans, then Palestinian Muslims are not locked in. With assistance from concerned Americans who have charitable instincts, some Palestinian Muslims can travel to such places as South America, Central America, and Mexico. The ability to learn more than one language is not an aptitude confined to any particular religious or ethnic group. Palestinian Muslims can learn such local languages as Spanish, Portuguese, and various Amerindian languages such as Sumu, Miskitu, and Rama.

Although it is possible that CIA assistance to paramilitary groups fighting a civil war against Stalinist-Brezhnevist Communism in Afghanistan may have created conditions that made the attacks of September the eleventh more likely to occur, the proposal here is quite different from that of arming or financing paramilitary groups.

The proposal here is that Palestinian-Muslim spiritual values could play a role in immunizing people in South America, Central America, and Mexico against the ideology of Stalinist-Brezhnevist Communism. After all, if Muslim spiritual values fortified people in a civil war fought against Stalinist-Brezhnevist Communism in Afghanistan, then such values could play a role in preventing Stalinist-Brezhnevist Communism from taking root somewhere else (such as Venezuela) in the first place.

Tourism and eco-tourism are already major industries that provide job opportunities for many sole proprietors, entrepreneurs, and also many employees around the world. We are moving in the direction of a global village. Surely the Middle East is not merely a source of news about ongoing violent conflicts, but is also a place where there are people who could play a constructive role not just for those who happen to share a religion, ethnicity, or language with them, but also for the people living on the North and South American continents.

Should concerned Americans encourage Palestinian Muslims to feel a positive, self-confident attitude that can find its expression in activity aimed at long-term, sustainable, constructive results and the protection of human rights law and the maintenance of human security throughout the world?
