Jewish Groups Secure Major Funding From Department of Homeland Security

I was doing research on the proposed cuts to Homeland Security funding to first responders, cops and firemen when I stumbled across this interesting article. Apparently, this is for the "faith-based" portion of the HSGP funding. It shows an interesting trend. Most of us thought those "faith-based" initiatives in federal grant funding were rewards to the Bush fundie fans. I am sure there are muslim folks in America who have more to fear as far as security goes in this country right now.

Of the 308 grants awarded through the Urban Areas Security Initiative Non-Profit Security Grant Program, 251 are being allocated to Jewish groups, totaling $19.6 million.

The $24 million in total grants announced by the Department of Homeland Security last week vary in amounts, with $100,000 the maximum. The funds are used to provide everything from roadblocks to security cameras to blast-proof doors and windows at locations that could be terrorist targets.

The grants were announced a few days after representatives of the Department of Homeland Security’s Center for Faith-Based and Community Initiatives toured the Jewish community’s national security alert organization in Manhattan.

A presidential order created the center in March 2006 in response to the lack of coordination between the Federal Emergency Planning Agency and faith and community-based groups that volunteered on the Gulf Coast in the wake of Hurricane Katrina.

and never did I see any state make such a request!

Mahathir Mohamad's opening speech ... which received a standing ovation, has been endorsed by other Muslim leaders.

In his speech, Dr Mahathir called on Muslims to use brains as well as brawn to fight Jews who, he said, "rule the world by proxy".

He added that "the Jews" were "beginning to make mistakes" and Muslims could have "windows of opportunity... in the future".

4. Synagogues and Jewish organizations in...

other countries have had heavy security for years. In Mexico, heavily armed guards stand watch and they search everyone for bombs. They do this because they know that there are anti-Semites everywhere with a hardon to kill a Jew. A lot of non-muslims find their own holy reasons to hate Jews. With Bush's crusade/war on Islam/Terror and Muslims justified anger at the US for said crusade/war on Islam/Terror Jews are a target.

The money would be better spent trying to find a way not to piss off every Muslim in the known universe. But it would take more than 19.6 million to do that.
