Is this War Worth It?

Hundreds of thousands of soldiers have come home from the wars in the Middle East in body bags, in pieces, or not at all. Countless civilians have been slaughtered without cause, and still, we are no closer to eliminating, or even finding the threats. Now terrorism has not only stopped many people from seeing the world, or feeling safe in their own home, but it has driven us to willingly send our loved ones into harms way, with little chance they will return.

1. Clarification.."worth it" to who?

Somebody is benefiting or it and the countless others before would not be happening.

I don't think I am benefiting, I am paying for the war. Close to 60% of our taxes, now or later in debt, goes to war.
Our national image may not be benefiting.

The munition makers, oil oligarchs, politicians playing geo-political and power games...they seem to think it is worth it.
What should we be doing to make sure it is not worth it them??????

We should go back to the idea that who ever declared the war has to participate in it... It would never happen, but it's something to think about.

3. I think you need to check your figures

I agree with the sentiment--no, Bush's little adventure is not "worth" the $$, the lives, the loss of American prestige in the world.

But,

This is just plain innacurate. For a war of this duration, there have not been nearly as many casualties as there were in other wars. Look into the numbers of American lives lost in the Civil War, or on D-Day.

Little chance they will return?? Hardly. The chances are actually pretty good that they will return.

Sure. If we compare the number of Americans killed in Normandia (The D-Day) and nowadays we'll see a huge difference.

I think the most negative effect of this war is the loss of American prestige in the world.
