Maybe this is the straw that "broke the camel's back" and
why the Feds finally acted against the "Hutaree Militia"

"According to the indictment their plans included killing a police officer and then attacking the officers who would gather for the funeral."

http://www.newsnet5.com/dpp/news/local_news/police-arrest-ninth-militia-member

um, isn't a credible threat to the cops enough to trigger a situation?

1. What blows my mind is the memory of our Homeland Security Chief having to
slobber all over "the right wingers" after her report merely suggested that "this group" may be inclined to uh, HAVE GRIEVANCES with the US Government.

I can't believe Napolitano apologized to the right wingers back then ... that Homeland Security Report proved to be spot on.

3. yes, that should be re-visited. She should apoligise for
apologizing. That's just the kind of knee-jerk, chicken-shit stuff that gives Democrats the "weak" stigma. She should vow to do her job and never kiss their asses again.

4. That was sickening at the time - and even more so in memory...
The groveling by this administration amounts to enabling.

5. I think the report listed ex-military as a threat. It was a while back but I
think that to say this about our returning vets, was the fire storm? But the more that is known about black water, it seems that that is a group to watch?

7. The report did NOT list ex-military as a threat
Here's the exact language:

Returning veterans possess combat skills and experience that are
attractive to rightwing extremists. DHS/I&A is concerned that rightwing
extremists will attempt to recruit and radicalize returning veterans in order to
boost their violent capabilities.

http://www.fas.org/irp/eprint/rightwing.pdf

That's a bit different from 'listing ex-military as a threat,' in my assessment. The report says ONLY that returning veterans may be TARGETS FOR RECRUITMENT by RW extremists. I want to stamp out that meme, which was picked up by other RWers as proof that the report was biased against US veterans.

8. If you read it was also their intent to kill any innocent civilian that saw them...
setting explosives or doing reconnaissance.

It was their intent to do it again if the first murders of police and family members who would be traveling to those funerals.

It was their intent to use this to start a civil war where Christians would rise up and murder all the Jews, Mexicans, and others who were polluting God's only true Religion of Christianity.

They were dangerous. They formulated a plot to murder people and comit a terrorist attack, they built bombs to comit that attack. It was going to happen soon.

9. April 19th
April 19th is a big day in the whole militia/revolution crowd. One can imagine that as April approached, they got concerned that it would be too late if the goal was to spark a revolution. They might kill the cop early in April, so the funeral was the second week, and their big show down would commence April 19th.
