Saving The American Airline Industry and Homeland Security |
|
Just a passing thought that I had this morning while listening to NPR. Apparently there was a British Airlines flight canceled due to "security/terrorist concerns" and several others were boarded and delayed. All of it came to naught of course. My thought was...would the Bush Administration be smart enough to use the "War on Terrorism" to drive people away from non-american carriers and on to American planes in an attempt to bolster the failing American airline industry?

1. The only flaw in the reasoning |
|
is how in the world are they going to cram even more passengers on the already full flights? Other than that, you're undoubtedly on to something.

2. It wouldn't be so much adding more people... |

...though having more planes and flights in teh fleet would accomidate that issue, but prehaps more of a deceasing the supply but maintianing demand so that the price goes up. People are going to keep flying. If we were able to convience even some of them that "European" carriers are less safe it might have a positive effect on our own carriers.
It's a long shot and a bit on the edge as far as theories go. I admit that freely. Still, I've played longer odds for less money in Vegas and won.
