Iraq authorities accept Iran oil pipeline offer
The US-led occupation authorities in Baghdad have backed plans for Iraq to build an oil pipeline to Iran, to ease the pressure on outlets for the country's rising oil production, Ibrahim Bahr al-Uloum, Iraq's oil minister, said.
"We have agreed in principle to an offer from Iran to build a 10km pipeline across the Shatt al-Arab
to the Iranian port of Abadan," said Mr Bahr al-Uloum. "We faced no objection from the United States."
Coalition officials in Baghdad confirmed a memorandum of understanding had been agreed between the former foes. "It's a very good practical thing to do," said a senior coalition official.
Relations between Washington and Tehran have been uneasy since George W. Bush, US president, two years ago declared Iran part of an "axis of evil", along with Iraq and North Korea. Last month, Mr Bush condemned the outcome of Iran's parliamentary elections, claiming that the regime's disqualification of candidates and closure of two leading reformist newspapers undermined the rule of law.

Iraq authorities accept Iran oil pipeline offer
So let me get this straight. Who exactly approved of this plan? Was it Bremer or the Iraqi Governing Body? Also, the Iraqi Governing Body is not a democratically elected group - they are hand appointed by the Neo-Cons. No wonder the Iraqis look at the Americans with ire. With * like this going on, no wonder they are pissed.
