'Guns go before Burundi poll'
Bujumbura - Plans for elections in the troubled central African state of Burundi by November 1 cannot go ahead while members of former rebel groups remain armed, President Domitien Ndayizeye has warned.

"I can hardly see myself saying let's hold elections while there are still 15 000 or 20 000 fighters with their weapons, who could still be summoned (by their movements)," Ndayizeye told a special forum of political parties and former rebel movements meeting in the capital Bujumbura.

Delegates from 23 recognized political parties and six former rebel movements were discussing the election timetable and a proposed electoral code and constitution.

Ndayizeye sounds like he's pulling a 'Rudy "Drink the Blood of 911 Victims" Giuliani'!
