Landmark war crimes trial opens

The trial of six Serbs charged with killing more than 200 civilians in the Croatian town of Vukovar in 1991 has opened in a special Serbian court.
The six are accused of belonging to a paramilitary unit which carried out one of the worst massacres of the conflict in the former Yugoslavia.
It is the first time Serbia has held a major war crimes trial . . . .
The suspects are accused of seizing Croat patients at a hospital in Vukovar after Yugoslav forces entered the town amid heavy fighting in November 1991.
