Conservative Party leadership candidates to focus on Ontario now
WINNIPEG (CP) - The three people who want to lead the federal Conservative Party will focus on Ontario in the days leading up to next Saturday's leadership vote.
Under the party's leadership rules, every riding has equal weight, regardless of the number of members it contains. With Ontario home to a third of the country's ridings, the candidates are preparing to spend most of the dying days of the campaign in places such as Toronto, Ottawa and Thunder Bay.
"We launch our bus tour (Sunday) and we will be hitting various communities within Ontario en route to the final convention," said Belinda Stronach.
"I'll be in Edmonton on Monday, Thunder Bay on Tuesday and then Ottawa and Toronto the rest of the week," said Stephen Harper.
