Rome - Italian police arrested 90 people suspected of Mafia links on Wednesday after the wife of a local hitman decided to break the mob's infamous code of silence and testify against her husband's clan.
Three policemen in the southern Puglia region were among those arrested in the day-long blitz, but the top Mafia bosses of the so-called Gargano clan got away, Italian news agency ANSA reported.
With testimony from the 25-year-old Mafia wife and mother of four, police believe they have identified those behind at least six homicides and arms and drug trafficking in the Gargano promontory along the Adriatic coast, ANSA said.
