Zim 'to take all white farms'

Harare - Zimbabwe's ruling Zanu-PF party's central committee apparently has decided to confiscate all remaining farms still owned by white farmers, reported the Zimbabwean website, Zimonline, on Monday.

About 500 farms out of the initial 4 500 are still in white hands.

The first farm to fall prey to this decision is that of well-known cricketer Dennis Streak, father of Heath, the former cricket captain.

This decision, which is discussed in a secret report of the Zanu-PF's central committee, clashes with a statement by President Robert Mugabe and his cabinet that the land-reform process in Zimbabwe has been completed.

1. Big, Big Mistake

Whites haven't dominated the country in years. It's racially based. It's ridding the country of some of its most productive citizens. It makes Zimbabwe a pariah for international investmetn. And it gives socialism and land reform a very bad name everywhere.

Castro at least compensated business owners if their companies were nationalized. Chavez has not tried to destroy the upper class in the process of helping the lower class. Zimbabwe is in stark contrast.

2. How did those people come by those farms in the first place?

Those bastards have only produced the deaths of HUNDREDs of people.
And all that is happening to them is that they get to return to the continent that spewed them out in the first place.

Theron's testimony and confession was a critical part of the trial of South Africa's Wouter Basson for alleged human rights abuses. Dr. Basson was implicated not only in supplying the drugs used to kill anti-apartheid political prisoners, but also in administering them himself. In October 1999, Chris Pessarra, a retired French Foreign Legionnaire claimed he witnessed Basson injecting political prisoners with poison in their stomach during a flight over Mozambique territory. He said that these men were then thrown alive from an airplane in 1979. The victims were five guerrilla rebels believed to have been from the Zimbabwe African National Liberation Army.

Pessarra said that before the poisoned, unconscious men were thrown from the plane, they were dressed in camouflage uniforms and supplied with guns and false papers. They were then sprinkled with an unknown powdery substance, which he believed was poison or some kind of lethal chemical agent. He believed the powdery agent was meant to contaminate other rebel soldiers who may happen upon the bodies.

If it were WHITES who were treated so by by blacks,
would those same blacks then simply be asked to leave Europe?

FBI agents have reportedly traveled to Zimbabwe, formerly known as Rhodesia, and South Africa to gather more information on Steven Hatfill, the former U.S. Army biologist who has become the public focus of the bureau’s investigation into last year’s anthrax attacks, Zimbabwe’s Sunday Mirror reported Sunday (see GSN, Oct. 7).
The FBI is believed to be investigating possible connections between Hatfill and the white Rhodesian regime’s alleged use of anthrax against black rebels in the Zimbabwe independence movement during the 1970s, according to an ABC source cited in the newspaper story.

Here too there was a Rhodesian precedent, since members of the Selous Scouts and other special operations units reportedly used cholera bacteria, anthrax bacteria, and other unspecified bacteriological agents to contaminate rivers and reservoirs in rebel-held areas during their civil war. South African intelligence and police personnel were also allegedly given access to secret Selous Scouts bases, and some suspect that they too may have played some role in the development of the Rhodesian CBW program. Given this context, it is perhaps not surprising that the South African security forces were themselves later accused of participating in offensive BW attacks. First, some observers have attributed the so-called "anthrax epizootic" that broke out in various areas of Zimbabwe in 1979 and 1980—prior, it should be noted, to the establishment of Project Coast—to the intentional dissemination of B. anthracis by Rhodesian and/or South African special operations personnel.

Mugabe knows them and knows them well. And Zimbabwe is now off-limits to bloody intrigue and espionage. The mercenaries doing hard time for attempting to overthrow the governemnt of Equatorial Guinea are a case in point. Simon Mann, Mark Thatcher, Riggs Bank all heading downhill. It is more than fair.

Daan Goosen, a former Project Coast scientist, agreed that other countries might recruit former South African biological weapons scientists, according to the Journal. Goosen is a former managing director of Roodeplaat Research Laboratories, a biological research company set up by the apartheid government to act as front for Project Coast.
Goosen said that ever since his role in Project Coast became well known, he has had several requests for “stuff to kill the blacks.” At the beginning of this year, a group of whites from Zimbabwe visited him and asked if he had any biological or chemical weapons that could be used to kill Zimbabwean leader Robert Mugabe, the Journal reported.

As for international investment, if Mugabe succeeds in causing the IMF and the World bank to abandaon Zimbabwe, then his name should be praised for the next ten generations which are the ones who would have been forced into neoslavery by those bloodsuckers.

Stiglitz has two concerns about the IMF/World Bank plans. First, he says, because the plans are devised in secrecy and driven by an absolutist ideology, never open for discourse or dissent, they 'undermine democracy'. Second, they don't work. Under the guiding hand of IMF structural 'assistance' Africa's income dropped by 23%.
Did any nation avoid this fate? Yes, said Stiglitz, Botswana. Their trick? 'They told the IMF to go packing.'

3. Observation

Mugabe's seizure of white-owned farms as some form of self-determination is a smokescreen. He is as busy oppressing his black political opponents as he is the few remaining white farmers. The land that is taken is not distributed generally, but is given to his political and paramilitary supporters in exchange for continued support. This man is not worth defending.

5. So, should the farms go to Halliburton?

This is the same crap we kept hearing about Saddam
and the Iraqi often and frequently say that
Iraq was far much better under Saddam
than it is now that it has been "liberated."

When the people of Zimbabwe beg the African Union for assistance in changing their government, then they will get that assistance.
Foreign involvement is not welcome.
Hands off.

There has NEVER been a white farmer in Africa that was worth defending.
THEY are the ones who DELIBERATELY create and spread disease.
Mugabe has NEVER EVER EVER done such a thing.

4. They are not the "most productive citizens"

Zimabwe is a very, very complicated issue and is clouded by a lot of misguided rhetoric as well as implicit racism. I agree that Mugabe is a hero turned thug/murderer who is ruining the country and economy.

But don't drink the coolaid on the white farmers. They are not very productive and many studies from sources as diverse and conservative as the British Overseas Council and the World Bank have concluded that small scale African farmers are much, much more productive on an input basis than white farmers.

Zimbabwe once had one of the most successful land reform programs in the history of development, but as trezic correctly points out, he began and continues to pervert the land reform program for corrupt, patronage purposes.

Also don't forget the roll of the US and Britain in precipitating this crisis by withholding funding for the original effecient land reform program in violation of their own treaty commitments, which plunged the country into its current crisis.
