Havana, Jan 21 (AIN) "Enough massacres, Mr. President," said Nobel Peace laureate Adolfo Perez Esquivel in a letter addressed to George W. Bush and re-printed by several daily newspapers throughout the Americas. <snip>
After recalling the death toll and destruction brought upon by US soldiers in Iraq and Afghanistan - including the torture and abuse of prisoners - Perez Esquivel asks Bush, "Mr. President, how did you celebrate Christmas and the birth of our God of life?". He goes on to add, "I wonder which God you offer your prayers to. I doubt that it is the God of life, peace and hope - since I believe that God would refuse to listen to your lies and cruelties if you prayed to him." <snip>
In his letter, the Nobel Peace Prize winner says "no act of terrorism - no matter who uses it - justifies the kind of state terrorism that you are applying against civilian populations in countries such as Iraq and Afghanistan, or the imposition of the more than 45-year blockade of Cuba, or military intervention in Haiti. These actions violate all international treaties, the sovereignty of nations and ignore the United Nations - now transformed into an empty shell."
After asking Bush, "how long will his insane policies of destruction and death last, Mr. President?" and "how many other crimes will you bear on your ,shoulders?", Perez Esquivel reminds the US president that "you must not forget, it is you who will reap the harvest you have sown."
