Public turns on bush: what NAM deaths level, did poll show public TURNS ON
Edited on Thu Feb-03-05 12:12 PM by oscar111
the President during Nam?

Nam should tell us when pain makes a war unpopular.

IF it was at 2O OOO US soldiers dead, about 1967 {both my very rough estimates}, then

we have a dismally long wait for the Iraq war deaths to

TURN THE PUBLIC against bush.

Nam may tell us the level of pain {ie, number of war dead} that the public has to feel, to turn against bush.

The Nam number also needs to be adjusted up to account for our population growth. So the percent stays the same.

1. Don't Count on It
The polls show that the kool-aid drinking sheep love their "leader" and would never turn on him, besides even if it did happen who will report it?

2. At one point they loved LBJ, electd him: Poll by dems wd report it on web
i understand your POV fully.

But realistically, i think a turning against bush is a real likelyhood, at some level of war deaths.

BTW, i hate to use war deaths in such a seemingly cold way. I certainly mean no disrespect. I personally hate war, and hate to see young lives ended too soon. Rooney of CBS said it well... "war is insane".

If the public turns on bush soon, we could get Congress back next year. If vetoproof, we could even get an end of homelessness... for 4 billion... by rolling back the taxcuts of bush.. which were over 36O billion.

3. The Difference
Is that LBJ wasn't "loved", and Bush's followers refuse to admit that he has done anything wrong. We're dealing with a cult like mentality, not intellect, and that's the main difference.

I don't think you're using the the war deaths in a cold way, we're all trying to figure out what final straw will break the camel's back, so to speak.

The man has lied, his supporters, both Republican and Democrat have enabled his lies, and US troops die almost every day. I don't think that any number of deaths will turn his supporters in Congress against him, and unless they lead, the kool-aid drinking sheep will not show any initiative and will continue to follow without question.

I'm a former soldier, I went to Desert Storm, and this war is nothing but one man's power trip.

4. thanks! However,B's support is racism,not fundies
Polls know they wont get a straight answer to "are u a racist", so they dropped the question.

{still, thanks for the input! i will mull it all for awhile. Keep posting}

But

80% of bush's votes come because of racism.

only ten percent are fundies, IMHO.

/So your picture of devout bush supporters, is somewhat erroneous.
They will TURN ON HIM, i propose, when war deaths hit their cousins, et.

Dont let the necessities of Poll question-framers , alter your view of political motivations out there. It is overwhelmingly racism that keeps the GOP in power.. backlash to the integration movement. Overlay the confederacy and todays red states.

All racism, then and now. "the story of america is RACE", said {was it deToqueville? about 184O}

Even part of fundy support comes due to unspoken racism.
