Ashcroft reduces plea bargining, a decision sure to delight gun-control
activists, because it increases the number of convicted criminals who will receive maximum sentences for breaking federal firearm laws.

Feindstein, Scary Brady, and gun grabbers should be delighted that Asscroft is finally aggressively enforcing firearm laws. Now if they can get AWOL to issue an executive order banning all handguns, automatic firearms, semiautomatic firearms, and any firearm that has a trigger, they will have made a significant step forward in shredding our Constitution.

As AWOL said, his job would be much easier if he were dictator and under a dictatorship, all rights are granted by the dictator.

Ashcroft Reducing Plea Bargain Discretion, "Federal prosecutors were ordered Monday by Attorney General John Ashcroft to pursue maximum criminal charges and sentences whenever possible and to seek lesser penalties through plea bargains only in limited circumstances."

1. Jody, Jody, Jody........
No one I know of on the pro-control side is trying to shred the Constitution. The only potential shredders I know of are assholes like Ted Nugent who would like to use it for target practice.

4. I agree with you 100% but, does that mean Asscroft is wrong in
reducing plea bargins and seeking max sentences?

10. Isn't one of the tenets of the RKBA crowd
that the problem isn't any lack of needed laws, but lenient sentencing by judges?

It sure is. But now here's Jody trying to lay it off on somebody else...just like he tried to claim Roy Moore (endorsed and bankrolled by the Gun Owners of America crackpots) had some tie to gun control.

11. Wrong again Benchy!
We say they need to be enforced...people like you want to add more laws that are never enforced, or raise the punishment to intimidate people into thinking gun ownership isn't worth it.

Well, at least you and Asscroft have something in common. That should be a good conversation piece.

As I show, further down the thread....

"at least you and Asscroft have something in common."
Not even close to true...old Soaring Eagle is a clown who tries to peddle the lie about the second amendment giving every yokel the right to a gun....

12. This is just an extension of "Project Exile"
the NRA's favorite nutcase program...

But don't take my word for it...let's listen to some of the right wing loonies of the RKBA crowd directly.....

"If we sincerely want to reduce crime, we know that putting criminals away works, and gun control doesn't."

http://www.mcsm.org/dirlik2.html

"What do the Democrats have to offer? Aside from liberal judges who are forever finding flimsy excuses for turning criminals loose, the Democrats offer "crime prevention" programs that prevent nothing, except for preventing the criminal from being put behind bars. Nothing has a proven track record of preventing crime like locking up criminals. But liberal Democrats are forever seeking "alternatives to incarceration."
Perhaps the most dangerous dogma of the Democrats is so-called "gun control." Gun control laws do not actually control guns."

http://www.jewishworldreview.com/cols/sowell100200.asp

"Then what's all this yelling about gun control? It's about liberal judges who give a slap on the wrist to offenders. Even repeat offenders."

http://home.earthlink.net/~plaindude/control_guns.htm

And so on...gun rights loonies like AssKKKroft have been spouting this idiotic horseshit for years....

"If we sincerely want to reduce crime, we know that putting criminals away works, and gun control doesn't."

What the hell is wrong with locking up criminals?

17. How can we punish criminals
who violate gun laws, if we don't have any gun laws? No gun laws = no gun criminals. Wow that's a Nugentonian utopia if I ever heard one.

16. Actually Benito Ashcroft's recent action
will be wildly cheered by the farest right of the far right wingers. They love to do anything they can to keep the working people under the jack boot of the facist regime. Ashcroft has also pleased the NRA and the right wing lurkers that go into Democratic websites and pretend to be Democrats, when no thinking person will fall for their folly.

18. Are you suggesting that those who support aggressive enforcement
of federal firearms laws are "right wing lurkers"? Some of those same people want to ban handguns or all firearms. Are they also "right wing lurkers"? Are you saying they're no better than Asscroft?

but they're dishonestly trying to pretend AshKKKroft's latest bit of fascism is somehow linked to "gun control supporters."
