Student has guns at home

SHILOH -- An 18-year old Cumberland Regional High School senior was arrested on Sept. 19, state police said, when officers found five handguns and 40 grams of marijuana at his residence.

Trooper Robert Gates said through interviews with individuals at the school, he learned that the student had handguns in his possession.

"The investigation started when a teacher overheard a rumor that the student had these guns," he said. "We then talked to people at the school and the information we collected indicated that this student had unregistered handguns."

Upon searching the student's residence on East Avenue in Shiloh, Gates said, police found the five weapons, of various calibers, and 40 grams of marijuana in a book bag hidden in the attic of the home.
