Denver Post Staff Writer

A 25-year-old woman died Tuesday afternoon in an apparent accidental shooting incident at Cherry Creek State Park Shooting Center, 12500 E. Belleview Ave., the Arapahoe County Sheriff's Office said.
The woman's identity wasn't released pending notification of relatives.

"On the surface it looks like an accident," Sheriff Grayson Robinson said. "We're investigating."

"He added that lightning struck someone just outside the center about eight years ago."

An equally rare occurence.

The article said she was "bleeding from the nose" after collapsing while on the firing line, then someone reported she had "head trauma."

The sheriff's dispatch received a 911 call from the center about 2:30 p.m. reporting a woman on the ground, bleeding from the nose.

Sheriff's deputies were sent to the scene on a medical assist, and while they were en route information was received that the woman had suffered head injuries, the statement said.

She was pronounced dead at the scene.

"The weapon she was using was the weapon that discharged causing the injury," Robinson said. "There was some accidental discharge."
