Guns NOT in the news -Oct 19
Edited on Sat Oct-18-03 07:47 PM by Superfly
Criminals will find any means to commit crimes, with or without firearms... Maybe we should register and/or ban "assault bathtubs."

Mom charged with bathtub child murders

LAMAR, Colorado (AP) -- A woman accused of drowning her two young children in a bathtub before a failed attempt on her own life was arrested Saturday on murder charges.

Rebekah Amaya faces two counts of first-degree murder in the deaths of Grace Headlee, 4, and Gabriel Amaya, 5 months, according to Lamar Police Cpt. Rick Copess.

The coroner said both children drowned and determined the deaths were homicides, the first in Lamar in since 1992.

Amaya, a registered nurse, was being returned to Lamar from a Colorado Springs hospital, where she was treated after she cut her wrists in the suicide attempt.

1. Amazing
Somebody killed somebody without a gun....and all gun enthusiasts can think of is "guns guns guns guns guns guns."

Guess it's like an involuntary spasm....

"What's this headline.....'Mom charged with bathtub child mur....' GUNS! AWKKKKKK!!!"

2. Actually...
I bathe with my guns. Simplifies clean-up jobs and kills two birds with one stone (remember that
Seinfeld episode where Kramer prepared food and took a shower at the same time?... same idea).
It also helps to have one of those "pre-ban, high capacity" water wasting shower heads.

Tip: don't get Sweets bore cleaner on your scrotum! Some nasty stuff. Took the wrinkles right out of my bag
and it was red as a ripe strawberry for days (try explaining that to your girlfriend!).

I've been to perhaps 1,000 plumbing-trade-related events in my lifetime, and have yet to see even one person dressed in a Nazi uniform.

But I have yet to attend one gun show and see anyone with "plumbers-ass-crack".

BTW, what's your opinion on "pre-ban" low flush/water saving toilets? Should the ban sunset or not?

only in that case the perptartors were rightlty blamed rather than the implemant... sound familiar?).

51. isn't plumber's ass crack synonymous with racial hatred?
most people I've seen with it were redneck asswipes who loved to bitch about "furriners" et cetera...I'd bet you'd find a lot more racism amongst plumbers than amongst gun owners...

Plumbers who are enlightened enough to not be racist are also generally enlightened enough to cover their own asses...

16. Racists and plumbers
Edited on Sun Oct-19-03 11:42 AM by D__S
Here's one theory why there's no one marching around in a Nazi uniform at plumbers conventions: maybe it's
because they prefer white sheets and hoods over swastikas by 2/1?

GASTON, S.C. - The wooded property with lily pads on the pond is a haven for a white man with no doubt that his race is supreme - or ought to be...

Mr. Gladden, whose friends call him ``Shorty,'' is grand dragon of the Carolina Knights of the Ku Klux Klan and proud of
it at 51. When he joined the Klan at 18, he said, he never dreamed he would someday wear a dragon patch on his back and green stripes on flowing sleeves, someday be looked up to by brethren in the Klavern.

His wife, Marian, made his robe.

Coming home, the Klan leader - a plumber by day - steers his pickup past the white-edged Confederate battle flag that waves from a tall tree beside the driveway.

June 10, 1999, Alabama: A plumber from Foley, Alabama, is arrested following his purchase of grenades from an undercover ATF agent. Chris Scott Gilliam, charged with possessing an unregistered firearm, told the agent he wanted to send mail bombs to Washington, D.C. Gilliam is a member of the neo-Nazi group The National Alliance.

Suspect in plot cites tie to KKK

FORT WORTH -- One of four people accused in a Wise County terrorism-and-robbery plot testified yesterday that he joined the Ku Klux Klan in February at the behest of the local imperial wizard.

Carl Waskom Jr. said he renounced his membership last week when he learned upon his arrest that the wizard was a
government informant.

Waskom, a plumber, said he was made a member of the Klan on Feb. 15 in a ceremony over which the government informant presided. He referred to the informant as "CS1," the abbreviation used in government documents for confidential source No. 1.

4. Oh, man!!!
I just spit my tea all over my keyboard...

In all seriousness, I've washed guns in the bathtub after shooting corrosive ammo through them. Hot soapy water dissolves the corrosive salts better than just about anything.

I draw the line at putting chemicals in there with me, though...wouldn't want an unwrinkled, red nutsack now, would I..... BWAHAHAHAHAAAAAAA!!!! :)

26. I used to rinse out my SKS in the shower
After shooting corrosive Chinese ammo I'd clean the bore and gas tube parts with a bronze brush and Dawn dishwashing liquid, then rinse the whole thing with hot water from the shower head. Next steps were to towel dry and drive out any remaining water with WD-40, followed by conventional cleaning.

I found that after shooting 3 or 4 mags my hand would start to sting. I had read about putting the handall grip sleeve on it to make it more comfortable to shoot.
It works. I can comfortably shoot over 100 rnd in one outing without discomfort now.

I think it was loaded with no powder, primer only. The bullet lodged in the barrel. Luckily the the next round would not fully chamber. I stick to S&B or handloads with starline brass or reused S&B brass. I haven't seen any commercial loads except FMJ. Do you have a link to the Self Defense loads?

If those self-defense stories were as prevalent as you pro-gunners claim they are, you would at least expect them to appear in right-wing papers such as the Washington Times, the New York Post, the Colroado Springs Gazette, or the Las Vegas Review-Journal.

Yet I find none - no matter how many times I search Google........

Do you really think they would run a story about a non-event? No death, no injury, no violence? Defending oneself with a firearm does not always require use of the weapon. Is a body count required to prove the effectiveness of firearms in self defense?

48. Yup...you see lots of news stories like this:
"Man gets in car, starts it, and it does not blow up."

However, if somebody gets into a car and starts it and it blows up, it'll be front page news.

Death and mayhem sells. Nobody getting hurt doesn't sell. That's why you rarely see stories about somebody's car being broken into unless somebody gets hurt or kidnapped.
