6. Jeeze, what a baboo!
There's an ace to draw to!

"On many fronts, Davis is bucking the Democratic Party platform. He's pro-life and anti-gun control, ''The Republicans have done a wonderful job of saying (Democrats) are going to take our guns and kill unborn babies and keep prayer out of schools. I will not be out-gunned, out-prayed or out-daddied by anyone,'' he told a small group outside the old Scott County Courthouse in Huntsville, Tenn. The phrase has become a signature sound bite of his campaign."

while I liked Warner (I moved to MD this past August), I think his pro-gun-owner actions as Gov. have been more of a response to Virginia political reality than to his own core beliefs. I've never heard him say what he actually believes.

Too bad the MD Dems can't get someone like Warner to be gov in this pit of a state. The best they tried to put up was KKT. :puke: If she had won, I probably would have had to turn in/dispose of my "arsenal of death" before being allowed to move here.

3. In CA...
I can think of no state-wide officials, but think of state Sen. Denise Moreno Ducheny of San Diego and Rep. Joe Baca of San Bernardino. They usually don't make it out of primary. Here in Sacramento a few years ago, the local head of the NAACP caught trouble for being endorsed by the gun groups in the Democratic primary. I imagine in other states there are more than here.

4. Fat Lot of Good It Did Him Too....
The NRA still attacked the poor bastid...

""The National Rifle Association dubbed Republican Mark L. Earley "clearly a better candidate" for governor in a letter to its Virginia members yesterday, but it stopped short of endorsing Earley because of his vote in 1993 for the state law limiting gun purchases to one a month.
The strongly worded letter gave Earley a grade of A-minus and praised his support for a major new exemption to the one-gun-a-month law that would allow unlimited gun purchases for the 104,000 Virginians with concealed weapons permits. It gave Democrat Mark R. Warner a grade of C and noted the several changes in his gun positions over the years."

http://www.loper.org/~george/archives/2001/Oct/50.html

"RICHMOND - Virginia legislators and members of the National Rifle Association drew stark lines between Republican Mark Earley and Democrat Mark Warning on the issue of the NRA and Second Amendment rights. In a conference call with reporters on Friday, the Second Amendment proponents outlined Warner's attempts to mislead the hundreds of thousands of gun owners in Virginia, while highlighting Earley's commitment to the rights of law abiding citizens. "

http://www.vagop.com/cgi-data/content_press/files/13.shtml

"...when you read the letter James Jay Baker, chairman of the NRA Political Victory Fund, wrote to Virginia NRA members, there is no way you can conclude that it is anything less than a strong statement of support.
The NRA used a grade system for judging the two candidates. Earley, a Republican, got an A-. Warner, a Democrat, got a C.
Baker criticized Warner for altering his public stance several times on issues of concern to gun owners."

But he's in prison now. The Ohio House Minority Leader is too. But he doesn't have much power, as the Dems only have about 35% of the seats.

28. Oh, fine

There's the debate-ender.

Name someone who is a member of the board -- and who therefore, according to the rules, cannot be commented on in the way that one might be wont to comment if the person had never signed up.

Sounds like a new variant of Godwin's Law, to me ...
