You search for something to get enraged over and ignore the message, true as it may be. But to you, truth is irrelevant.

Don't worry about iverglas, if it doesn't come from a 100% blue source, to her it must be ultra-right wing (whatever the information is. If (insert right wing nutjob here) said the sky was blue, she'd argue for yellow. Don't tell her, but even a stopped clock is right twice a day.)

27. a stopped clock may be right twice a day

but it's a damned funny thing how all that you people can ever find is stopped clocks.

If you really want to know the time, why do you never consult a functioning clock???

If I wanted to know the time, myself, I wouldn't go looking for a stopped clock and hope it had beaten the massive odds.

If I want to know what colour the sky is, I don't consult someone who lies 99% of the time and hope I beat the massive odds.

And if I want to find opinion that is worth considering, I don't go looking in right-wing cesspools on the off chance I might find some.

And if I found myself nodding and agreeing with as much shit from as many right-wing cesspools as the denizens of this place do on a regular basis, I'd make an appointment with my psychologist. He's big on "values", and the importance thereof to a healthy personality.

And if you have something to say to me, feel free to do so. Or you can keep gossiping and sniping, if you're not up to the job.

self-edit pre-post

You know what? I'm not going to play your game. You have fun with yourself googling any name or organization attached to any posting, finding some vast right-wing connection to anything anyone finds that doesn't agree with you. If it makes you feel better, be my guest. I feel sorry for you that you can't evaluate anything on its' merits. Must be a dang small world for you.

I don't mindlessly regurgitate what any political party says I should. I agree with about 75% of the democratic platform, and about 15% I'm ambivalent about. The other 10%? Wholeheartedly disagree. But you know what? I think for myself, and I'm proud to do so. I don't automatically look for truth from one source above all others, be it a bible or a party platform. No one group has a lock on the truth on _any_ issue.

I know a lot more democrats who are against draconian gun legislation (confiscation, bans) and their precursors (registration, high ammo taxation, ammo stamping) than those who are for them. From my perspective, the democratic leadership just hasn't caught up with the rest of us (or needs to come back to us, depending on how long you've been following the democratic party.) Considering the increase in 'gun friendly' congressfolk, the increase in concealed carry even in states with solid democratic control, and the removal of anti-rkba legislation from the proposed agendas of many state legislatures, I'd say the national party should catch up eventually. That doesn't stop the token bills that get introduced every year and die in committee, but hey, the congressfolk have to at least give a nod to those groups sometimes.

Another important part for me is demographics. Not as many rural democrats who are more likely to share my views start blogs, or become popular when they do. I have my local 'gun' hangouts, and the split is about 60/40 R/D. Funny thing is, when you start talking to a lot of the R's, depending on class, they're espousing democratic ideas. Enough so that I think that were the democratic leadership to take a different stance on RKBA, we could lock in control nationwide for more than the next 8 years.

So sure, more repugnican blogs pick up stories like this- it's one of their token issues. (I say token because they're no more 100% on the other side of this fence than democrats are solidly on this one.) I refuse to let the repignicans frame the issue as a dem vs rep one just as much as I refuse to let them claim the high ground on financial issues when it was deregulation that set the stage for the financial crisis we're currently mired in.

Have fun flagellating google to look for the elephant menace in every corner.

12. Huge difference... well, not really
The primary difference is how many finger movements per bullet. So someone can shoot a semi a little slower than a fully because of the required finger movements. Why is this distinction important? A shooter can only shoot N rounds a minute versus NN rounds a minute. Both stop when you run out of bullets. Doesn't seem to me to be much of a thing to get all lathered up about.

14. He makes some good points.
It's a shame that he glosses over some things. He missed a chance to contrast the difference between semi and full auto - on the semi auto weapons he lets off the trigger after each shot. Good weapons handling, but at least one time he should have held his finger on the trigger to show that the weapon would not keep firing. After all, that is the point he is trying to make.

When he pulls the receiver covers off the two semi auto AK's to show how similar they are, he glosses over the fact that if he pulled the receiver cover off the full auto AK it would look the same as the other two.

Nice demonstration - turning a varmint huntin' Mini-14 into a scary assault rifle!

20. Got to agree about the blogger
Video's pretty good (albeit, a little "firearms for dummies") but the blogger's a wingnut.

It does highlight an important point: The difficulty of coming up with a workable definition of "assault rifle". What my father (ex-RAF) would mean by the term is entirely different from what a layman would mean by the term which is again entirely different from what a politician would mean by the term.

Yeah.

The people pitching hysterical fits in this regard (or pretending to ...) -- to a one, given the complete inability of anyone in this forum to come up with any other kind of source, ever -- are right-wing morons.

Certainly tell us something, don't it?
