"We *do* want their guns, we just don't want them to figure that out yet"
Why all the trial balloons, SecState Clinton blaming American guns for Mexico's problems, and now
Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi talking about registration and banning interstate transfer?

Easy, they just want to see what they can get away with before anybody notices.

I guess we are supposed to believe the amen chorus, and not our lying eyes.

5. Like I said, trial balloons, and Pelosi's interview
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=118&topic_id=212158&mesg_id=212158

http://briefingroom.thehill.com/2009/04/07/pelosi-pledges-compromise-on-assault-weapons-ban

...During an interview on ABC's "Good Morning America," Pelosi said that the Congress will work to find some middle ground between the previous ban, which expired in 2004, and the precedent laid by the Supreme Court in a ruling enumerating more concrete gunowners' rights last term.

"We have to find some level of compromise," Pelosi said, citing 53 victims of gun violence nationwide in less than a month. "And we have to rid the debate of the misconceptions people have about what gun safety means."

"Yes, it is," the Speaker said when asked if the ball is in Congress's court now that Democrats control the White House. "And we are just going to have to work together to come to some resolution."

Pelosi indicated that new regulations might entail registration and prohibitions on transporting some firearms across state lines...

Let me guess, registration doesn't really mean registration and prohibitions on transporting
doesn't mean prohibitions on transporting...

12. Obviously, no one.
Some people fail to understand that quotation marks are meant to demark actual quotations,

Kind of like using the word 'literally' when you mean 'figuratively'.

15. My apologies, I should have left the quotes off
I was attempting to point out some cognitive dissonance within the Democratic Party.

We downplay gun control when we need the votes of moderates, Blue Dogs, and independents.

When people think it's 'just us', or no election ready to hand, gun control gets talked up.

News flash, folks: There is no more 'just us'. All those posts at DU calling for gun bans
and more gun control can be read by anyone, and the NRA and GOP certainly are reading closely.

9. "GLBT RIGHTS ARE HUMAN RIGHTS" & RKBA is an inalienable right protected by the 2nd.
I hope we can agree on that at least the Pink Pistols do.

8. men can hold the guns, women can hold the bullets

sounds sensible and fair to me considering men kill us with their guns every day in america.

18. Plenty of women hold both guns and bullets
In fact, the women gun owners I've met tend to be more serious (as a group) about safety than guys.

11. It couldn't possibly mean anything.
Sort of like how people who constantly say that blacks are responsible for most crime don't necessarily have a racist agenda.

And when people say they hate homosexual acts because it is condemned in the bible, those people don't dislike homosexuals.
