Gunfire kills 7-year-old girl in KCK just after 3yr old.
Laraya had just completed first grade at Caruthers Elementary School in Kansas City, Kan. She was one of five people shot when a gunman or gunmen fired into a house shortly after midnight. The four others suffered wounds that were not considered life-threatening, police said.

Laraya’s death came as the community continues to struggle with a horrific quadruple homicide in Kansas City, Kan., that left 3-year-old Juanita Castleberry-Bess dead. Also murdered were her mother, Peggy Castleberry, 41; Amanda J. Remmers, 21; and James Warren, 66. Authorities charged Adrian Burks, 37, of Kansas City, Kan., with that crime. He allegedly was involved in a domestic fight with Remmers.

1. The problem with guns is human nature.
Until we can change people, perhaps they shouldn't be trusted with ballistic weapons of any kind.

2. How about
blunt and bladed weapons? Those did a fine job during the crusades. What else would you like to ban?

5. Not true.
Mongols, Cossacks, Samurais or virtually any other large group of armed, determined people.

21. Oh, please
Your grasping for straws and sounding pathetic in the process.

Typical behavior though, for obsessives.

Unable and unwilling to admit even the most obvious proposition.

23. I think you know what the proposition was
and that your argument is bogus.

At least you would in another context- where the obsession didn't come into play.

14. and I thought I was making it up.

Yup, those bad guys would have killed those kids with a blunt or bladed weapon if they hadn't had guns.

I knew it.

6. Sure thing.
I'll give up my ballistic weapons as soon as the world's militaries and police do. After all, they've been much more prolific killers than civilian criminals:

9. While I disagree with gun control, I admit that the world would be much more peaceful if governments
were not armed.

7. Collateral Damage from the War on Drugs?
Reads suspiciously like more "Collateral Damage" from the "War on Drugs".

Anything but dealing with the real problem.. the criminalization of drug use by adults.

So many getting rich in so many ways.. as long as drugs, prostitution any "vice" are criminalized rather than controlled..Innocents are caught up in it, innocents die.

Some "Judeo Christian Ethic".. Maybe that's just the excuse.. Maybe everyone in postions of power profits from the criminalization of drug use.

Some how they seem to be arguing it is better that pushers work school yards than to create a legal mechanism and method for adults to obtain desirable but less harmful drugs for personal use Lawfully.

Once out in the open let users be held accountable. If they engage in drugged driving or other behaviors high risk to others just as we do with alcohol.. Use the tax revenues for education and to fight abuse just as we do with alcohol and smoking..

How is it so much better that people buy crack made in clandestine labs out of stuff we should not put down our toilets? Better that Kids wind up being killed in the "War on Drugs"?

It is as if our elected officials have never heard of Prohibition and what a great success that wasn't!!!

Sad for the the loss of these little children sad for all the people.

8. Definitely something odd going on
Neighbors said several people of all ages lived at the large house and there were often children playing games in the front yard. Many neighbors said it wasn’t uncommon to see police cars at the home. Others said there were often people outside fighting and cursing. The arguing scared some and angered others.

Plenty of police attention, people fighting, something tells me this wasn't your Ozzie & Harriet-type household. Crying shame the little girl became the victim of whatever her mother and mother's boyfriend (especially the latter, I'd bet) were involved in. Not that that excuses the motherfuckers who riddled the house with gunfire to get at one or two of the occupants.

17. Not exactly
To those so sure that any death of a very young person must be drug or gang related, there's some more information available.

Domestic violence was at the root of quadruple homicide in KCK, relatives say
On Monday, Remmers, James Warren, 66, Peggy Castleberry, 41, and Castleberry’s 3-year-old daughter, Juanita D. Castleberry-Bess, were found dead at the home. They had been shot numerous times. http://www.kansascity.com/news/local/story/1276106.html

10. Utterly Abhorrent
I hope the perpetrators are caught, and punished.

I wish that there was something that could be done for those close to the victims, alas, nothing I can type here will really matter. I just hope their lives are not totally destroyed by this.
