SAN ANTONIO – A man brought three grenades – one of which was live – to a San Antonio Police Department Northwest Side substation early this morning, officials said.
The police department's bomb squad was called to the Prue Road substation around 6:30 a.m. when a man brought the devices in his vehicle, said Sgt. Michael Oliva.
He left the grenades in a box in his vehicle, then told Oliva and others inside he brought them in because he was worried for his son's safety and wanted to get them out of his house.
The man, whose name was not immediately released, found the grenades in his late father's house when he died about 10 years ago, Oliva said. He brought them to his own home, then decided this morning they could harm his young son, Oliva said
