There's only one restriction. You must be a gun owner/user and/or agree with the idea that gun ownership is a good thing that should never be disallowed to those who wish to own and use them legally.

(Did I dodge saying that RKBA is a good thing well enough?)

8. Fair enough - and it's an impressive list!
Let's just say that I recently bought a thrid safe for long guns. I'm currently in legal possession of over 4 dozen long guns and 9 handguns. I am in possession of no illegal firearms.

My bragging irons are Weatherby triplets - 30.06, .300 WBY Mag., .375 WBY Mag. and my Ruger semi-matched set of Blackhawk revolvers in .22/.22mag., .32 H&R mag, .357, .41 mag., .44 mag., and .45 long Colt. There is, of course, my standby: Colt 1911 with a few refinements.

All are shooters except for a couple I've inherited that were either bought as collectibles (limited run special editions) or that have become collectible because of age.

I prefer my 1100's for hunting, but the Benelli goes to the trap range with me.

9. I REALLY want a Benelli
I was shooting my A-5 for ducks for the longest time, but I had to retire it. So...I thought I would stick with Browning and bought the Gold. I come to find out that I absolutely hate gas operated shotguns because 2 reasons:

1) They're a pain in the ass to clean.
2) The more you shoot them in a day, the harder the recoil becomes as the gas system loses its efficiency due to buildup.

So, I think I am going to get my hands on a Super Black Eagle when I can afford it.

10. Good choice.
I love mine. I grew up hunting with the 1100, so it's just habit. No flies on the 1100, mind you, it's a wonderful semi-auto, but I agree with the cleaning part for any semi-auto.

But then, extra cleaning time gives us asswipe lunatics more time to fondle our iron.

I bring less firepower than most of you though.

Sears "ted williams" .22 semi-auto. Beautiful woodwork on that one and a decent shooter.

Winchester model 90 .22 pump. Needs restoring, and a few new parts, but IS a great little target gun.

Beretta model 96. (and 3000 once fired brass for cheap target practice)

Thats all. To me, its not important how many you have, just that you can have them and enjoy shooting them or defend yourself with them-without being a criminal.

Love to hook up with anyone in the southwest AZ area for some range time. We have a dandy outdoor range called Adair park near Yuma, has seperate skeet,hi-cal long distance rifle, handgun, small cal rifle, archery, black powder, cowboy action, and radio controlled aircraft (and a few others too).

"Is your humor detector shut off iverglas?

Sigh.

The cultural divide is just too great.

Of course it was a joke. Wtf did you think my post was?

It's called DRY HUMOUR. It's the brand most popular where I'm at. I know perfectly well that it is seldom understood to the south of where I'm at, so I should stop practising it with a southern exposure, I know, but sometimes I forget myself.

We, of course, don't make a habit of patronizing foreigners by explaining our damned jokes to them. If they don't get it, that's a joke in itself, and one we're actually quite fond of. Ask google for "Rick Mercer".

*We* are also fond of laughing at ourselves. *We* thought "Blame Canada" was hilarious. (Although yes, at least partly because *you* didn't get the joke, and no, I really can't explain it.) I thought that "Soviet Canuckistan" was the funniest quip of the decade.

It must be time for me to offer up that supply of stupidfaces

;^) ;^) ;^) ;^) ;^) ;^) ;^) ;^) ;^) ;^) ;^) ;^)

for anyone who's confused to add to my prose when the confusion strikes. If you're not quite sure, think "tongue in cheek", and maybe it will all come clear.

38. and the best dry

is of course Canada Dry.

Actually, I prefer Vernor's myself. I think it's a sort of northern US thing that had seeped over the border and as far as my southwestern Ontario home town, and that I missed terribly when I moved away, and just discovered in my local Loblaws Superstore last week! I'm happy.

Ah, a kindred non-dry martini drinker. Give me the vermouth on ice any day. Just don't try to pass off California white as "dry" around me ("dry Riesling", yeah right). I'll stick to Italian; keeps the tongue stuck to the cheek.

That was Pat Buchanan. I found a little gem; can't reproduce it all, of course, but do click:

http://www.thestranger.com/2003-07-03/ex7.html

Buchanan probably thought he was lobbing the ultimate dis, but there is something Americans need to know about Canada: Hardly anyone here was offended, and many Canadians took it as a supreme compliment. ...

The United States is a one-myth culture. The Federalist Papers read like John Locke having a conversation with himself, and your history is just an extended working out of the philosopher's ideas about individualism, private property, and the state. In the United States, the capitalists have acquired a monopoly on patriotism, and your response to other ideologies alternates between xenophobic isolationism and messianic internationalism. In the United States, the capitalists have acquired a monopoly on patriotism, and your response to other ideologies alternates between xenophobic isolationism and messianic internationalism. ... You might say that Canadians are progressive conservatives by inclination; we try to keep what's valuable from the past, while remaining open to the new.
... <Pollster Michael Adams says> that since 1992, social values between our two countries have diverged in significant ways, and that the long-term trend points to increasing divergence. Both countries are trending away from traditional values, are becoming less deferential to authority and more individualistic. But while Canadians are moving toward values associated with idealism and personal self-fulfillment (e.g., creativity, tolerance, and cultural sampling), Americans are moving away en masse from the trends associated with civic engagement and social and ecological concern. You are becoming paranoid and isolated, more likely to see society as a war of all against all. America is becoming a nation of survivalists.

... But when you consider American values in light of the determined openness and internationalism emerging in Canada, Europe, and elsewhere, this "exception" is starting to look more like an aberration. Take a look around, America. Soviet Canuckistan is the new world order.

49. Curio and Relic
I'm not starting a major buying spree until my curio and relic is approved so I can purchase Yugoslav SKS rifles at wholesale. My current list is a CZ-70, a Tokarev pistol, and a bolt action 12 gauge. My list includes a Yugo SKS, a M44 carbine (or 2 or 3 since they're less than $40), a good .38 revolver, a pump 12 gauge, and a Marlin Model 60 .22. That should cover it all for my needs.

53. Takedown and cleaning is incredibly primitive ...
- Problem with the slide stop causing it to lock open with rounds still in the gun on certain models
- Low capacity
- Plunger tube problems (can come loose affecting the safety)
- Funky curved extractor resulting in FTF/FTE
- Barrel bushing/recoil spring plug issues
- SAO design requiring you to carry cocked and locked

On the plus side, the 1911 has the cleanest trigger pull of any gun I have fired, and is incredibly accurate. It's enforced standards also allow you to do liberal mix-n-match of parts.

56. Not to infringe on Skinner's trade name but please count me in

Mainly a collector of C&Rs. I go for certain themes, for example:

Swedish Mauser rifles
German handguns 1920 - 1944
Firearms designed by John Moses Browning (my favorite)
US weapons of World War II

My interest is mainly mechanical, technical, and historical. Firearms provide examples of the best manufacturing techniques and materials available at whatever time they were made. That's been true throughout their history and remains so today.

I also have for sporting use a couple of AR-15s (legally registered California AWs in case anyone cares), a long-range target rifle, various 22s, and some random other old military goodies.

59. I Don't Have A List Of "Evil" Weapons
But I do currently own and operate a shotgun, rifle and pistol.

Pistol: .45 ACP Colt Combat Commander

Rifle: 7mm Remington Magnum

Shotgun: 12-Gauge "Le Fever" Nitro-Express Double-Barrelled Shotgun built back in the '30's.

If I've "evil" having any one of those three weapons, then feel free to flame me for I am a "hunter", live in a "City" and grew up with the weapos over a period of forty years.

63. See Post # 24
You'll quickly find out that, according to some posters here, "all" gun owners are that and more.

Oh, and according to the same folks if you own guns, especially evil black rifles, or believe in the second amendment you aren't a "real" democrat. So there !

Welcome.

Don P.
