Eyebrows were raised on the U.S. Supreme Court this week when a lawyer for the state of Texas argued that prosecutors had done nothing wrong by allowing witnesses to lie during a 1988 capital murder trial that ended in a death sentence.

Bowie County prosecutors deceived the jury and the judge during the trial of Delma Banks Jr., said Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg as she questioned Assistant Texas Attorney General Gena Bunn on Monday.

Bunn was put in the awkward position of arguing that even if the prosecutors lied, it was the responsibility of the defense to uncover the lie.

:wtf: Prosecutors can allow witnesses to lie, and it's up to the defense to uncover it? Egads, I hope I'm never in the wrong place at the wrong time in this state.

Delma Banks Jr Care to wager on Delmas race? Its only one dead person. Many more minorities are still alive and well in good ol' Texas.
