Bank encourages second amendment

I'm not sure of the source on this one; it popped up in my google news feed. Interesting article, though. Most banks in AZ seem to be fine with legally carried pistols, but perhaps it's a bit more of a sensation in other parts of the country.

About a month ago, Chappell Hill Bank president Edward Smith looked at a sign on the front door prohibiting concealed weapons from his business and decided to make a policy change.

Licensed to carry a handgun? Come on in, and bring your weapon.

The sign, now prominently displayed on the bank’s front door, says, “Lawful concealed carry permitted on these premises. Management recognizes the Second Amendment of the U.S. Constitution as an inalienable right of all citizens. We therefore support and encourage the carrying of licensed concealed weapons.”

Expressions of support have far outnumbered criticism.

Smith been contacted by officials from larger banks considering to take similar action, and has received e-mails in support from across the United States and even from England, Canada and Germany.

Armed guard? Easy to locate and neutralize.

The bank should display the sign as prominently as possible.


What's real funny is I've heard anti-concealed carry individuals lament sarcastically "Guns in bars??? What's next, guns in banks???"

even a light-weight M4, for more than a few hours, while walking around, in and out of buildings, standing around, sitting down, getting up, lugging other gear/bags/stuff...

12. For starters, it's Texas, where open carry is prohibited

Secondly, the TEC-9 is a complete piece of shit; it won't feed anything other than FMJ rounds, and it's still a fucking jam-o-matic with those. Its major selling points were low price and high mag capacity, which appealed to the kind of people who wanted to "spray and pray" and then dump the gun in the nearest large body of water before the local constabulary caught up with them. Given that the gun's been out of production for about 15 years, and the kind of people to whom it appealed weren't what you'd call meticulous about maintenance, what little reliability they had will have vanished.

16. Open carry of a handgun is not allowed. However

the open carry of a longarm is not agin the law in Texas.

"It is unlawful to display a firearm in a public place in a manner calculated to alarm."

So as long as you do not point it at anybody it is legal. the firearm can be loaded with one in the chamber. Not agin the law.

18. The Tec-9 is indeed a peice of shit

I had one, jammed all the time. Its not even fun to shoot. I picked up an SKS at the same time, and love that gun even today. The Tec-9 on the other hand, did not remain in my collection.
